Bullhead City sits on the Arizona bank of the Colorado River, with the Black Mountains rising to the east. That combination is what makes it such a good base for side-by-side riding: you can spend the morning on dusty trails and the afternoon by the water. Visitors staying in the hotels and casinos across the river in Laughlin, Nevada, are only a bridge away.
A few miles south along Highway 95, Fort Mohave is home to golf-course and lake neighborhoods, mesa-top homes with mountain views and plenty of winter visitors. Riders there have the same easy access to the foothills and the routes toward Oatman.
Wherever you're staying, tell us in your booking request and we'll confirm pickup details.

What riding out here is like
The country east of Bullhead City changes fast. Near town it's open desert cut by sandy washes, where the dirt is soft and the driving is easy. A few miles in, the ground starts to rise toward the Black Mountains, and the routes turn rockier, with short climbs, loose descents and old mining roads that wind between the hills. Further up, the views open out over the Colorado River valley.
That variety is why a side-by-side is such a good way to see it. You can cover real distance on the graded roads, slow right down for the rough bits, and stop wherever the view is worth a photo. First-timers can stick to the washes and wider dirt roads. Drivers who have done this before can push on toward the tighter, rockier routes.
A few habits make every ride better: start early, carry more water than seems sensible, keep your speed down when you pass other people, and turn around while everyone is still having fun. The desert is beautiful, but it doesn't forgive running out of fuel, water or daylight.
Before your first ride
- Pick a route that matches the least experienced driver.

Quick answers
Do I need off-road experience?
No. Plenty of renters are first-timers. We'll go over the controls with you and point you toward an easier route for your first ride.
Half day or full day?
A half day is enough for a loop in the foothills. Choose a full day if you want to ride to Oatman, or take on the rockier climb toward Secret Pass.
Can I ride in summer?
Yes, but go at first light. Bullhead City summers are extremely hot, so plan to be off the trail before the afternoon heat and carry plenty of water.
How many people can ride?
Two-seat machines carry two. Our 4-seat side-by-sides carry up to four. Bigger groups can book more than one machine.
