A machine built for rough ground
The Can-Am Maverick line is known for long suspension travel and a planted, stable feel at speed. That matters on the terrain around Bullhead City, where a smooth wash can turn into a ledge of broken rock within a few hundred feet. More suspension travel means the tires stay on the ground over ruts and rocks, and the people in the seats get bounced around less.
We'll confirm the exact Maverick model and seating when you book.
Maverick or RZR?
Both are capable side-by-sides, and you'll have a good day in either. The choice mostly comes down to the kind of riding you have in mind:
| Can-Am Maverick | Polaris RZR | |
|---|---|---|
| Feels like | Planted and cushioned over rough ground | Light, quick and playful |
| Shines on | Rocky climbs, washboard roads, longer days | Tight washes, short hills, quick turns |
| Pick it if | Comfort on rough trails matters most | You want the most nimble drive |
Still not sure? Tell us where you want to ride and who's coming, and we'll recommend one. You can also compare our Polaris RZR rentals.
Routes that suit a Maverick
The longer and rougher the route, the more you'll appreciate the Maverick's suspension. The rocky climb toward Secret Pass in the Black Mountains is a good example: narrow in places, with wash crossings, loose rock and steady elevation gain. A long day on the Arizona Peace Trail, linking dirt roads, hill climbs and old mining country, is another place a cushioned ride pays off by mid-afternoon.

Riding it well
- Slow down for rocks. Good suspension isn't a reason to hit ledges fast. Pick a line and crawl the rough bits.
- Watch the width. Long-travel machines are wide. Stay on routes wide enough for the vehicle; Arizona rules don't allow riding on trails narrower than your vehicle.
- Keep the dust down near others. Slow down when you pass other riders, hikers or campers.
- Turn back early. If a section looks beyond your comfort, it probably is. There's always another route.
Who the Maverick suits
The Maverick is a good match for riders who have driven a side-by-side before and want to spend the day on rough ground, for couples planning a long day out, and for anyone who knows a bumpy ride will wear them out by lunch. If you're mostly sticking to smooth washes near town, a lighter machine will be just as much fun.
Planning a few days? A multi-day rental lets you try both trails without rushing.
Can-Am Maverick rental FAQ
Is the Maverick harder to drive than a RZR?
Not really. The controls are similar. It's a bit larger, so take a few minutes to get used to its width before tight sections.
Can beginners rent the Maverick?
Yes, as long as the driver meets our age requirement and has a valid license. We'll go over the controls and suggest an easier first route.
How many seats does the Maverick have?
Ask us about seating on the Maverick when you book. Larger groups can book a 4-seat side-by-side or multiple machines.
Do you provide helmets?
Ask us what's included when you book. If helmets aren't included, bring your own. Riders under 18 must wear a DOT-approved helmet on public land in Arizona.
What if it rains?
Desert rain can make washes flood and dirt roads slick. If storms are forecast, call {{PHONE}} and we'll talk through your options.
