Staying in Fort Mohave? The desert and the Black Mountains are on your doorstep. Rent a side-by-side for a half day, a full day or the whole week.
Riding from the south end of the valley
Fort Mohave sits along State Route 95 about ten miles south of central Bullhead City, between Bullhead City and Mohave Valley. It's home to lake and golf-course communities, neighborhoods built up on the mesas with mountain views, and a steady stream of winter visitors who come for the sunshine. Look east from almost anywhere in town and you'll see the Black Mountains, which is where most of the good riding is.
Many of our renters stay in Fort Mohave and ride out from there. We serve Fort Mohave riders the same way we serve Bullhead City. Pickup arrangements are confirmed when you book.
Neighborhoods and landmarks you'll know
- The Highway 95 corridor. Fort Mohave's main road, lined with shops, restaurants and services, and the quickest link north to Bullhead City.
- Desert Lakes and Los Lagos areas. Neighborhoods built around golf courses and man-made lakes on the west side of town.
- The mesas. Higher neighborhoods with views over the river valley and toward the mountains.
- Aztec Road. Leads west across the Colorado River into Nevada.
- Boundary Cone Road. Heads east from the Highway 95 area toward Oatman, named for the distinctive peak in the Black Mountains.
- The Fort Mojave Indian Reservation. Borders the community to the west and includes the site of the original Fort Mohave, an Army post established in the 1850s. Reservation land has its own rules, so don't ride there without permission.
A bit of history
The community takes its name from Fort Mohave, a U.S. Army post set up near the river in the 1850s. The Army left at the start of the Civil War, soldiers returned later, and in 1890 the fort was handed over to the Indian Service. Today the old fort site is part of the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation. The tribe keeps the traditional spelling "Mojave," which comes from Aha Macav, "the people by the river."

From late fall through spring, the weather is mild and the riding is at its most comfortable. Summers are fiercely hot here, so summer rides belong in the first hours after sunrise.
